I - Budapest - Holy Trinity Monument

Przyjazd do Budapesztu był lekko niefortunny.. ledwo zdążyłam na samolot przez kontrolę radioaktywną. Ale udało się i chętnie zdam relację co tam ciekawego można zobaczyć i co moim zdaniem było najbardziej przyciągające uwagę :)
Początek i koniec pobytu w Budapeszcie to zdecydowanie Buda. Jest to bez porównania najpiękniejsza cześć całej stolicy Węgier. Na zdjęciach powyżej i poniżej można podziwiać pomnik Trójcy Świętej.

Arriving in Budapest was a little bit unfortunate..but well... happens.. I've barely managed to catch the plane because of radioactivity alarm at the Modlin airport. But I've made it and happily I'm going to report what I saw there and what I think is the most eye-catching :)
The beginning and end of the visit in Budapest was Buda side expeditions. It is without a doubt the most beautiful part of the entire capital of Hungary. In the pictures above and below you can see the monument of the Holy Trinity.

Jest to kolumna morowa postawiona w tym miejscu na wniosek rady miejskiej po wielkiej epidemii dżumy w 1709 r., która zdziesiątkowała 2/3 miasta ówczesnej Budy.
Jest to już druga kolumna, która stoi w tym miejscu – ta jest zdecydowanie bardziej okazała – pierwsza mniejsza postawiona po zarazie w 1691 r. ewidentnie nie wystarczyła skoro epidemia wróciła :P


Obecny pomnik jest bogato zdobiony postaciami świętych co miało uchronić przez kolejnym nawrotem choroby.

A jak w ogóle się tu dostać?
Wystarczy dojechać czerwoną linią metra [najstarszego w Europe] do stacji Széll Kámán tér.
Lub dojść dłuższym spacerkiem od strony Mostu Łańcuchowego.

It is a column which was placed there for the request of the city council after the great bubonic plague in 1709 r. At that time 2/3 habitants of the Buda city died because of it. 
This is the second column, which is placed here, much bigger one – the first one was smaller, placed just after the disease in 1691 r., but bubonic plague came back so the people thought that it happened because the other column wasn't enough and they’ve build a bigger one just in case :P

The current monument is richly decorated with figures of saints, whose job is to protect from the next relapse of bubonic plague.

And how do you get here?
Just get the red underground line [the oldest one in Europe] and get off at Széll Kámán tér stop.
Or take a longer walk from the Chain Bridge which is really nice.

Świąteczny czas / Christmas time

Przyszedł kolejny czas zimowy.
Jak co roku ta pora nie napawa mnie zbyt wielkim optymizmem bo zimno to mój odwieczny wróg ale bardzo lubię patrzeć na Warszawę pokrytą białym puchem z okien swojego cieplutkiego domku.
Jak co roku również w grudniu zostało włączone oświetlenie świąteczne. W czwartek poszłam sprawdzić i przekonać się na własne oczy jak ono wygląda.
Poniżej wrzucam kilka zdjęć.

Winter time has come again.
Like every year, this type of the season does not help me looking in optimistic way on what is going on around.. well.. as some of you know cold is my eternal enemy but I really like seeing Warsaw in a white coat of snow when I’m staying in my cozy warm apartment :P
As every year, in December, the Christmas lights were turned on. On last Thursday, I went to check it out
Here I put some pictures.

Oświetlenie jest prześliczne.. prawie zupełnie różne od tego sprzed roku i kilku lat wcześniej.. gdyż poprzednio każdej zimy wyglądało dokładnie tak samo. Tym razem mamy poustawiane: bombkę obok pomnika Kopernika, różnego rodzaju prezenty i cukierki niedaleko hotelu Bristol i pomnika Mickiewicza, a ukoronowaniem tego jest Zamek Królewski, na którym z rzutnika wirują gwiazdki na fioletowym tle.

The lightings are lovely.. completely different from those which were for several years in Warsaw on Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście streets.. before at each winter it looked exactly the same. This time we can see: Christmas glass ball [which is not glass at all :P] next to the monument of Copernicus, various gifts and goodies near Bristol hotel and the Mickiewicz monument. The culmination of these attractions is the Royal Palace, where are displayed the visuals on the walls.

Przypomina mi to święta sprzed 2 lat w Como we Włoszech, gdzie byłam na Erasmusie..[ na pewno będę to opisywać w przyszłych postach :D] Tam też na kilku najważniejszych budynkach w centrum miasteczka były rzutniki i kolorowe atrakcje na elewacjach budynków takich jak ratusz czy teatr itp.
Warto zobaczyć fotki a jeszcze chętniej zapraszam samemu na spacer aby się przekonać :)

These reminds me of Christmas 2 years ago in Como, Italy, where I was on Erasmus.. [for sure I will post a lot about this period of my life in future: D] There as well, were displayed colorful attractions on the facades of a number of most significant buildings in the town center such as town hall, theater, etc.
The pix are really worth seeing but I really recommend to go for a walk and check it out yourselves :)

VIII - Berlin - Karaoke

Na zdjęciu poniżej możecie zaobserwować największe karaoke świata!!!!
Jak to zobaczyłam to oczy w słup mi stanęły.. nie wiarygodne..
..na zdjęciu chyba nawet połowy ludzi nie ma..
..i oni naprawdę śpiewali.. jak łatwo się domyśleć dużo czasu tam nie spędziłam bo na trzeźwo takich fałszów to nie da się długo słuchać.. :P

When I saw it I was astonished.. unbelievable..
..in the picture probably even half of people is not included..
..and they really sang.. well.. as you may guess I wasn’t too much time there because it’s impossible to handle that kind of singing out of tune without a drink for long :P

Różdżka / The wand

W tym spontanicznym poście chcę na chwilkę wrócić do fragmentu, którym rozpoczęłam ten blog. Czy jeszcze ktoś pamięta jak dostałam list, w którym poinformowano mnie o mojej czarodziejskiej mocy..?
Jak się okazuje mój tajemniczy doręczyciel wywiązał się z obietnicy i dostałam prezent!!
..teraz mam już różdżkę i jestem pełnowartościową czarodziejką [tudzież czarownicą, jak kto woli :P]

VII - Berlin - East Side Gallery

EAST SIDE GALLERY jest naprawdę godne uwagi. Na pozostałościach muru wymalowano ściana po ścianie fenomenalne murale. To zdecydowany „must” do zwiedzenia. Jest to galeria – pomnik dla wolności. Składa się z ok. 106 murali. Wystarczy dojechać zieloną linią metra do stacji końcowej: Warschauer Str. lub jedną z pozostałych 6 linii :)
Zapraszam do obejrzenia kilku wybranych fragmentów muru.

EAST SIDE GALLERY is truly remarkable. On the remain part of the wall next to the river were painted phenomenal wall murals. That's a huge "must" to visit. This is a gallery – memorial for freedom. It consists of 106 murals in total. Just get in the green subway line to the end station: Warschauer Str. or use one of the other 6 lines :)
Have a look at a selected few.

VI - Berlin - Berliner Dom & Fontanny

Katedra Berlińska – BERLINER DOM – Fryderyk II chciał mieć coś takiego jak mają w innych stolicach „coś dużego i starego” i tak też mu zbudowano, wedle życzenia. Katedra jest z XVIII wieku, mimo że wygląda na dużo bardziej wiekową. Sami popatrzcie :)

Berlin Cathedral – Berliner Dom – Frederick II wanted to have something, that others have in their capitals, as he put it "something big and old".. well.. he ordered they built. The cathedral is from the XVIII century, but it looks much more older. Just check for yourselves :)

Fontanna Neptuna robi zdecydowanie lepsze wrażenie na żywo niż na zdjęciach. Zwłaszcza przy tak kiepskim świetle jakie nam się trafiło mimo, że była już mniej więcej 17:00.
Dynamicznie usytuowany Neptun wieńczący centralną część fontanny otoczony jest personifikacjami czterech rzek: Łaby, Odry, Renu oraz co ciekawe Wisły.

Fountain of the Neptune makes much better impression live than in the pictures. Especially with such a bad light that we had even though it was already around 5 pm.
Dynamically located Neptune in the central part of fountain is surrounded by personifications of the four rivers: the Elbe, Oder, Rhine, and what's interesting Vistula.

Ostatnim punktem turystycznym na dziś była Fontanna Baśni Braci Grimm – sympatycznie miejsce.. z daleka od miejskiego zgiełku w środku parku.. chyba przez godzinę moczyłyśmy stopy w chłodnej przyjemnej wodzie :)
Znawcy na pewno rozpoznaliby mnóstwo postaci.. ja niestety już prawie nie pamiętam tych bajek.. trochę szkoda bo mogłaby być z tego niezła zabawa.

The final point of sightseeing for today was the Grimm’s Brothers Fairytale Fountain – really nice place .. away from the hustle and bustle, in the middle of the park.. We stayed there for more than an hour just enjoying the peaceful place and cold water on our feet :)
Experts may certainly recognize many characters from the fairytales.. unfortunately I can’t remember almost none of them.. it’s such a shame because this could be so much fun.

V - Berlin - Luftwaffe & the WALL

Następnym etapem naszej wycieczki była kwatera Luftwaffe. Jest to, a właściwie był to najpotężniejszy moloch dopóki nie wybudowano Pentagonu w USA. Budynek faktycznie ogromny, z „freskiem” komunistycznej propagandy na ścianie zachęcającym by sobie pomagać.
O ironio losu.. po wojnach nikt nie chciał objąć siedziby bo to zła sława a budynek jako jeden z niewielu przetrwał wszystkie bombardowania prawie nie naruszony.. i kto się odważył..?

The next point of our trip were the headquarters of the Luftwaffe. It is, well.. in fact it was the most enormous building in the world until the Pentagon in States was built. The building is really huge, with a communist propaganda "fresco" painted on the wall encouraging people to help each other.
Ohhh sweet irony.. after the wars no one wanted to have the office in this building because it brings horrible memories nonetheless the building as one of the very few survived the bombing almost all intact .. and who shall dare ..?

Kolejnym punktem było obejrzenie fragmentu muru berlińskiego, który jeszcze stoi na swoim miejscu.. okazuje się, że mur postawiono w ciągu zaledwie jednej nocy. Kto miał szkołę po drugiej stronie miasta.. mógł iść na wagary.. kto miał dziewczynę po drugiej stronie.. no cóż.. rano się dowiedział, że z nią zerwał.
Mur może i nie był taki trudny do zdobycia jednak system kontroli, który był wprowadzony skutecznie ochładzał zapały. Mur pomiędzy jedną a drugą ścianą miał pas ziemi niczyjej z budkami strażników aby mogli strzelać do śmiałków.. a w piachu były zainstalowane szpikulce aby dziurawić ludziom stopy w trakcie przedostawania się na drugą stronę.

..do tego było STASI – co piąta osoba donosiła.. Dochodziło do tego, że bliscy denuncjowali swoje rodziny bo strach przed karą gdyby wykryto coś o czym wiedzieli a nie powiedzieli był zbyt wielki..

Another highlight was a part of the Berlin Wall, which still stands in its place .. it turns out that the wall was built in just one night. who had a school on the other side of the city.. well.. on the next day could skip classes.... who had a girlfriend on the other side .. oh well .. in the morning he discovered that he broke up with her.
The Wall might not had been so difficult to overcome, however, a control system, which was introduced successfully, definitely was. The wall had a strip of no man's land between its parts where were booths with guards that can shoot the daredevils ..and there were installed, in sand, spikes to pierce people feet during the run to the other side.

..and there was the STASI – one in five people reported to them.. There were cases that relatives denounced their families because the fear of punishment if they found something he/she knew and did not say was too high..

IV - Berlin - Holocaust Denkmal

Drugi dzień wycieczki zaczął się od Free Tour Around the City. Spotkanie było na Placu Paryskim skąd przeszliśmy do „pomnika” upamiętniającego Żydów  – HOLOCAUST DENKMAL – jest to ponad 200 bloków z betonu o różnej wielkości od malutkich po naprawdę wysokie. Jak się wejdzie w głąb to panuje zupełnie inna temperatura a pod powierzchnią jest małe muzeum dotyczące ofiar ludobójstwa.

We started the second day of our trip with the Free Tour Around the City. The meeting was at the Paris Square, where we went to the "monument" commemorating the Jews – HOLOCAUST DENKMAL – there is more than 200 concrete blocks of different sizes from the tiny to the really high ones. When you go through the blocks there is a different type of climate and the difference in temperature is easy to notice. Below the surface is a small museum for the victims of the genocide.

Mieliśmy 2 minuty na zadumę i przewędrowaliśmy kawałek dalej na parking, bardzo lichy piaskowy parking na którym stało kilka samochodów. Okazuje się, że pod tym parkingiem jest bunkier Hitlera, w którym popełnił samobójstwo razem z swoją kochanką Ewą Brown. To zadziwiające jak szatkuje się wydarzenia i miejsca historyczne...

We had 2 minutes to become engrossed in meditation and then we took a small walk a bit further into the parking lot - very miserable sand parking – where several cars were parked. It turns out that below the ground is Hitler's bunker where he committed suicide together with his lover Eva Brown. It's amazing how people select the events and historical places to memorize...

III - Berlin - Check point CHARLIE

Czekając na kolegę obstrykałyśmy sobie Check Point CHARLIE z każdej możliwej strony. Jest to dawna granica pomiędzy strefą amerykańską a radziecką..

While we were waiting for a friend we made pictures of the Check Point Charlie from every possible corner. It was the former border between the U.S. and the Soviet Union zone..

Fun Fact: dlaczego tak się nazywa?
Telegrafiści używali skrótów: A jak Alfa, B jak Bravo, C jak Charlie i stąd się ona wzięła. Dodatkowo to było jedyne przejście dla obcokrajowców [dla Niemców były chyba jeszcze 3 inne – legalne].
Był to jednocześnie symbol wolności i separacji.

Fun Fact: why is it called this way? 
Telegraph operators used abbreviations like: A for Alpha, B for Bravo and C for Charlie and this is how it started. In addition, it was the only way for foreigners to cross the border [the Germans had probably 3 other entrances – of course those legal ones].
It was as well a symbol of freedom and separation.

II - Berlin - Reichstag

Obowiązkowym punktem zwiedzania stolicy Niemiec jest oczywiście Reichstag. Parlament zwiedzamy za darmo z tym, że wcześniej należy zarezerwować wizytę na stronie internetowej. Szczególnie polecam zwiedzanie 23-metrowej szklanej kopuły (na jej szczycie jest punkt widokowy). Potwierdzenie rezerwacji otrzymamy mailem. Trzeba je zabrać ze sobą w ramach biletu wstępu.

Definitely a must in German capital is visit in Reichstag. You can visit parliament for free but you have to make a reservation on their website first. I recommend especially visiting 23-meters high glass dome (there is a viewing point at the top). After you receive the confirmation of your visit take it as your ticket for the entrance.

Wejście zlokalizowane jest od ulicy Scheidemannstraße. Na samym początku po pokazaniu rezerwacji dostajemy karty magnetyczne, które do niczego nam nie są potrzebne :)
Potem trzeba przejść szczegółową kontrolę bezpieczeństwa – coś podobnego do tej na lotnisku i niestety okazuje się, że nie znają tam takiego wynalazku jak szatnia czy chociaż przechowalnia bagażu tak więc nasze walizki podróżne także zwiedzały niemiecki Sejm.

The entrance is located on the Scheidemannstraße street. At the beginning you have to show the email - proof of the booking. It is necessary for getting the magnetic cards which you don’t use anywhere.. pointless :)
Then you have to undergo a detailed security check – something similar to the airports’ one and unfortunately it appears that they do not know about the magnificent invention which is cloakroom or storage for luggage so that our suitcases also visited the German Parliament.

Warto pamiętać, aby nie zabierać ostrych i niebezpiecznych przedmiotów. Najśmieszniejsze, że przeskanowali nam walizki i jedyne co z nich wyjęli [zamiast ostrych rzeczy, które miałyśmy :P] to dwie butelki wódki, które były prezentem dla znajomego.. jak je potem odbierałyśmy strażnicy mieli niezłe śmiechy ale tylko po niemiecku.. po angielsku nie chcieli się odezwać :D

It is important not to take sharp and dangerous objects with you. The funniest thing is that they scanned our luggage and the only thing that they took out [instead of sharp things that we had :P] were two bottles of vodka, that were a gift from Poland for a friend of us.. when we took them back after the visit, guards were laughing so much. They said something in German .. unfortunately in English they didn’t want to repeat that :D

I - Berlin - Pozdamer Platz

Wycieczka do Berlina trwała tylko 2 dni.. ale biorąc pod uwagę tempo jakie sobie narzuciłyśmy, to całkiem dużo udało się zobaczyć.
Nasze odkrywanie stolicy Niemiec zostało rozpoczęte od POZDAMER PLATZ. Wszędzie można tu zobaczyć mini wystawy na temat muru berlińskiego jak choćby ta tutaj na zdjęciu.

The trip to Berlin lasted only for 2 days.. but taking to the account the pace of sightseeing, we've visited quite a lot.
Our discovering of the city we started from POZDAMER PLATZ.

..i fenomenalny Sony Center. W budynku tym znajdują się sklepy, restauracje, centra konferencyjne, pokoje hotelowe, biura, muzea, Kino CineStar oraz dla fanów 3D IMAX.

..and the phenomenal Sony Center. Here in this building you can find shops, restaurants, hotels, offices, museums and a couple of cinemas like IMAX 3D.

Idąc w stronę Reichstagu nie można ominąć Bramy Brandenburskiej – symbolu Pokoju, Wolności i Zwycięstwa. Zabytek ten znajduje się na niemieckich rewersach monet 10, 20 i 50 eurocentów jako symbol zjednoczenia państwa niemieckiego.

Kwadryga na samej górze miała swoje przejścia :)

Kiedyś odczytywano tę kobietę na 4 koniach jako symbol pokoju [w sumie tak jak teraz] i ten oto symbol pozwolił sobie Napoleon zapożyczyć na wieczne nie oddanie, kiedy szedł na Rosję i przechodził przez Berlin. Jakiś czas później odnaleziono ją w pudłach gdzieś w Paryżu i przywrócono jej należyte miejsce ozdabiając w herb Prus i krzyż. Od tej pory zaczęła być nazywana Wiktorią – symbolem zwycięstwa.

Niestety nie mogłam się pozbyć tych czerwonych barierek gdyż zwiedzałam Berlin w czasie Euro 2012 i tutaj właśnie znajdowała się Strefa Kibica.

Going towards Reichstag you simply can't miss the Brandenburg Gate – the symbol of Peace, Freedom and Victory. This monument is minted on the German reverses of coins of 10, 20 and 50 euro cents as a symbol of the reunification the German country.

Quadriga on the top of the gate has its own history :)

Before, the woman with 4 horses was a symbol of piece [well.. actually she still is] and this every symbol Napoleon allowed himself to borrow and never gave back. It was during his invasion on Russia when he was passing through Germany. Sometimes later she was found somewhere in boxes in Paris and brought back to the proper place. There were added a Prussian coat of arms and the cross. From now on she is called Victoria – the symbol of victory.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get rid of these red barriers in from of the gate because I was visiting Berlin during Euro Cup 2012 and this was a place of Fan Zone.

Sekretna przesyłka / The secret package

Nie miałam pomysłu jak zacząć pisanie tego bloga o podróżach, aż tu nagle pewnej słonecznej niedzieli wracałam do domu i od niechcenia sprawdziłam skrzynkę pocztową – rzadko to robię bo zazwyczaj jest pusta [pomijając rachunki no ale takie jest życie :P].

Zaglądam do wnętrza a tam leży żółta koperta bez żadnego znaczka za to z dużym herbem na którym wyryta jest wielka litera "H". Przesyłka wyglądała bardzo tajemniczo i już coś zaczęło mi świtać ale z wyciąganiem wniosków poczekałam do otwarcia zawartości.

Otwieram a tu list od nikogo innego jak Albusa Dumbledore'a – Dyrektora Szkoły Magii i Czarodziejstwa w Hogwarcie.
Mając takie moce mogę zawędrować gdziekolwiek tylko mnie nogi poniosą. A jako, że uwielbiam ten "sport" mam nadzieję, że nie zabraknie mi wytrwałości w katalogowaniu wojaży na tej stronce.

Do tej pory nie mam pojęcia, kto mi zrobił tak fenomenalny żart ale bardzo jestem wdzięczna.. ubawiłam się setnie i cały dzień szczerzyłam się z radości do wszystkich napotkanych ludzi :D

I didn’t have any idea how to start this travel photoblog, and suddenly ones upon a time in a sunny Sunday I was coming back home and I’ve decided to check my mail box – I do that really rarely because normally it’s always empty [except the bills.. but well.. life :P].

I glanced into and there was a yellow envelope without any stamp on it but with a big crest upon and the letter “H”. The package seemed suspicious but I had a feeling.. well.. I decided to open it first and then draw conclusions.

I’ve opened.. and there was a letter from Albus Dumbledore himself – the headmaster of the wizard school of Hogwarts.
With these abilities that I know of right now I can go wherever I want to go and see whatever comes to my mind. I hope that I will find the strength to archive my tours and trips here on this blog.

Till now I don’t have any idea who actually made this.. but I’m really glad. I had a lot of fun that day. Whoever you are – thank you very much :D
